Why will you love this hot chocolate vegan mix?

  • This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, plant based, easy to make, fast, and lightly sweet and super yummy
  • Fast: it will only take you 5 minutes to make and store
  • Healthy: we use cocoa powder and cinnamon as the main ingredients which are high in antioxidants and vitamins. The sweetener is optional. However, we use a little bit of brown sugar or coconut sugar just so there is some sweetness in the hot chocolate and the kids love it. But if you like the slight bitter taste of chocolate, you can use it without sugar.
  • Customizable: it can be used to make hot chocolate or iced chocolate or added to any drink or dessert you like. You can add it to a fruit bowl, or a smoothie, oatmeal, or a toast with almond butter.

Useful tips and tricks for a perfect hot cocoa vegan mix

  • Optional Add-Ins and Variations: great options to add to your hot chocolate mix are vanilla, ginger root powder, clove powder, and cinnamon sticks. You may use other sweeteners such as honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, molasses, caramel, or any sweetener you prefer. I have found that any milk works with this cocoa mix. For this recipe we used unsweetened almond milk. We have used soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk, and it tastes great.
  • How to serve or what to serve it with? Serve 1 tablespoon of your hot chocolate vegan mix to 1 cup of your favorite milk. More sweetener can be added as needed. You can also add to your oatmeal, smoothies, fruit bowls, pancake mix, brownies, muffins, cakes, and cocktails. It can also be made into a refreshing and chocolaty iced cocoa drink. For iced drinks, I recommend dissolving 1 tbsp of the hot cocoa mix into 4 tablespoons of hot water and then use it in any cold beverage you like. Or use a good blender.
  • How to store: Store in an airtight sealed container. It may last for two months or more.
  • More tips: You could use a food processor or a blender to mix the ingredients faster. I found that the brown sugar tends to form clusters. However, it may take a minute or two to mix thoroughly which is not too bad. The mix dissolves and blends great in hot milk or liquid.
